Mission Day
This week the whole school took part in our Mission Day around the Gospel Value of ‘Purity and Holiness’. A range of activities considered various elements of Catholic Social Teaching and what it means to be a positive influence in the world. We reflected on this Gospel value as encouraging people to become ‘wholly’ themselves rather than be distracted by other influences. It was a great day with lots to think about.
Year 9 Day of Reflection

Year 9 also had their Day of Reflection this week. The theme for the day was ‘We are God’s work of art’, and included workshops where they created art pieces based around their unique fingerprints. There were other workshops on the ‘Big Questions’ in life and how to make Self-Care a part of our daily routine. We were joined on the day by the Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team who led a workshop looking forward to Year 10, thinking about what to take forward and what to leave behind. It was a wonderful day and thanks to the Youth Mission Team and all the staff who supported our students on their day.

Sports Presentation Evening
On Monday 18th July 2022 at 6pm, we celebrate the return of Sports Presentation Evening. Furthermore, those who have represented the school in four or more sports will receive a badge for their efforts.

Library News

Last library lessons.

As yr 7 library lessons draw to a close, I’d like to remind parents and carers of the importance of reading aloud to your children. This is something we take for granted throughout primary school but becomes increasingly infrequent as our children get older. Research conducted by Unity Research School highlights the importance of reading fluency as a vital skill which enables children and teenagers to access all areas of the curriculum. By reading aloud to your children you are modelling appropriate pace, smoothness, phrasing, and expression/volume. Reading fluently strengthens understanding and secures comprehension. We have been modelling reading to the year 7s for part of every library lesson this year. Some classes are yet to get to the end of their book. See below for the stories we have been sharing this year:
