Students at St Nicholas Catholic High School are expected to wear full school uniform at all times, maintaining high standards of dress around the school. Their smart attire is commented on by visitors and students wear their uniform proudly on external visits. The uniform is comprised of teal blazer with the school crest and motto, black and gold tie, white shirt / blouse and dark trousers / skirt. Students are also expected to wear plain sturdy black shoes with no colour or flashes of colour, with appropriate socks or tights. Students may also wear a pullover under their blazer: this this is to be plain knit in black with no logos. Students must also wear an apron for technology.

For PE, students must wear the prescribed kit. This is comprised of a navy and sky blue badged polo shirt, navy and sky blue shorts / skort, along with a reversible rugby shirt also badged in navy and sky blue. Students can also wear a plain, unbranded black or navy fleece or sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms for outdoor activities. Plain black or navy leggings are also allowed as long as they are worn under their St Nicholas shorts or skort. Correct school socks must be worn for PE along with footwear appropriate for the activity. During the colder months it is advisable for students to layer up, e.g. thermals, skins, or long sleeved t-shirts are ideal underneath their PE tops. Plain hats and gloves are also allowed dependent on the activity.
