Headteacher’s Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEADTEACHER,
MR C BURNS

May I extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the whole community at St Nicholas Catholic High School.

We are passionate about learning and developing confident well rounded young people with the ambition to set big goals and the skills, qualities and qualifications to achieve them. Students at St Nicholas are known, valued and challenged to achieve their God-given potential and reach beyond what they thought possible.

St. Nicholas Catholic High School is a happy school, where students, staff and parents work closely in partnership. Self-belief, aspiration and mutual respect are key drivers in the pursuit of a culture excellence.  We are a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted 2019) with a fantastic reputation for delivering outstanding care, guidance and support for our young people.

Our aim is that every individual will experience success. That doesn’t come magically – it is the result of hard work, perseverance and commitment by the student as well as good teaching, encouragement and feedback from staff. You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do.  You will also find a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of St Nicholas’ provision.

We have the highest expectations of our young people, not simply in their progress in learning, but in how they grow as good citizens. We want our students to be people we would be proud to know as our family, friends and neighbours. When our young people go out into the world, we want them to make a very positive difference. The ethos of the school is that we all help and look out for one another.

The relationship between home and school is essential if your child is to gain the most from their time here. We value your support and co-operation, and we thank you for trusting us with your child. We remain committed to developing the God given talents and potential of your child.

Dear Young People,

Do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you!

Do not be afraid to dream of great things!

Pope Francis
