Message from our Chaplain Mairie
Prayer Garden
Over half-term, quite a lot of work took place in the area outside the year 11 lunch space. This has been known as the prayer garden for some time but has not been accessible to students. We have now cleared everything away,  apart from a memorial tree, so that we have a blank canvas to create a space for students to sit and have some reflective or prayer time. It is still a work in progress and does look quite bare at the moment, but we will update you as garden furniture and plants are introduced to create a welcoming and prayerful space.
Confirmation
We were delighted to share in the celebration as some of our students received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Vincent’s in Knutsford. Congratulations and many blessings to all who were Confirmed and their families.
Mission Statement Review

We are in the closing stages of renewing our Misssion Statement for the school. Next week, we are meeting to draft a short list of statements that will go forward to a whole school vote. This will be taking place from 1.15pm on Friday 20th May and will last for one hour. If any parents would like to be involved in the drafting you would be welcome to join us. Please contact me, m.gelling@st-nicholas,cheshire.sch.uk if you would like to attend.

More Mathematics Success
We were delighted to send off a number of entries to the Mathematical Education on Merseyside annual challenge programme back in March. All St Nicholas’ students who entered did an excellent job at answering the questions which were all themed around Famous Artwork for this years challenge, which attracts over 200 entries annually.
Cian Garrard and Edward Smalley both achieved a Certificate of Merit and have been invited to a rewards ceremony at the University of Liverpool. Congratulations to both of you on your well deserved success.
Attendance
Please ensure your child attends school every day. Any requests for leave of absence should be made to the school in writing one month before if possible.
Please be aware that holidays will not be approved unless in exceptional circumstances. Contact your child’s Year Leader to discuss in the first instance.
Well done to the vast majority of our students who turn up on time, have good attendance and are ready to learn. We really appreciate your efforts.

Accessing the Foodbank

Whilst we hope that everyone is coping well, this is a difficult time for many, and we appreciate that there may be some families who are undergoing hardship because of changes in work or personal circumstances. So that we may support our St Nicholas family we have registered as a referral organisation for the Foodbank. If you would like to have this support, we are able to process an on-line referral and arrange an appointment for you to collect a five-day food package from an agreed centre. For those who are self-isolating, a delivery can be arranged instead, subject to volunteer capacity.

Please do contact me at m.gelling@st-nicholas.cheshire.sch.uk if we can be of help in this manner. As always, our conversation and any information that we need to pass on to the Foodbank, will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. For alternative access, you can also contact the local Citizens Advice in the Community on 07894 238963
