Year 7 Residential

Year 7 have spent Wednesday to Friday at Whitemoor Lakes in Staffordshire.

It has been a wonderful experience for both students and staff – everyone has participated in a variety of activities from canoeing to fencing, climbing and archery. It has been great to see the students working together, helping each other and making new friends.

Thank you to all the staff who took part – in particular Year 7 leader Mrs Azakli who has worked tirelessly to make the trip happen.

Library and literacy Newsletter
I have discovered a great new resource which I want to share with you called Books Up North. Books Up North organises literary events across the North of England and has some great book related content on their website.
The first link I would like to direct you to is their book review page.  All reviews are written by members of the junior review panel. Children can apply to join the panel by following the links on the website and will get a free copy of any book they review. If you have an avid reader at home, please encourage them to sign up and let me know if they get chosen.
The second resource worth mentioning is their podcast.  This is a great way to find out about new authors and books. They have podcasts by Simon Farnaby, Michael Morpurgo, Alexander Mcall Smith and Katherine Woodfine.
Alumni

At St Nicholas we are very proud of our students, past and present.
We always enjoy hearing about their future jouneys and the success they achieve after studying with us.
Victoria Fletcher has been in touch to tell us what she is up to now and about her experience at St Nicholas.

Request for old laptops

With the exam season approaching we have more students needing to use laptops and the exam department is struggling to meet demand.

If you have an old laptop you no longer need, it would be really helpful if you would consider donating it to school. All that is required is Notepad which we will install, so even older machines will work.
