Message from our Chaplain Mairie

Today, Remembrance Day, our whole school community came together in reflection for the Two Minute Silence which was observed at 11.00am. Our thanks to Edward, our solo trumpeter, for leading us all into the Two Minute silence so movingly.

It was wonderful to see the respect shown by our students and there was a real sense of community.

“O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. Amen”

November is a time for remembrance and we will take time to remember our own loved ones with stars in the chapel and our Book of Remembrance.

Remembrance Day
Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is national Anti-Bullying Week and, in school, our prayer focus has thought about the need to uphold the dignity of every person we meet and, following our 4R’s, act respectfully towards others and protect them when we can. We are also reminded by our Gospel Values for this term are Tolerance and Peace.  We commit ourselves to the care and wellbeing of others.

Parent Focus Meeting
Further to Mr Woods’ letter earlier this term, the Parent Focus meeting this term will take place on Wednesday 16th November. The focus will be on the school uniform policy. If you wish to attend, please complete this brief MS Form https://forms.office.com/r/6DSfnXvw96
Science Club

This week in KS3 Science Club we were learning about the bones in our hands, and we made articulated models. Each finger can move by pulling the string connected. Next week, we’ll be doing some Chemistry experiments. You’ll find us in S5 on a Tuesday Lunchtime 12.45- 1.15pm.

Northwich Careers Fair
This week some of our Year 10 students went to The Northwich Careers Fair. Its was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to ask lots of questions  with a variety of careers and apprenticeship courses.
All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Brio Northwich and were a credit to the school.
Gymnastics World Championship

George Avraam, Edward Ma and Eleanor Ma are all gymnasts at Hartford School of Gymnastics and were selected to volunteer at the World Gymnastics Championships, as part of the Ceremonial Team, in Liverpool, last week. They worked long hours, presenting awards, escorting gymnasts and VIP’s, liaising with officials and worked in a large team at the Arena, in a high pressure environment, including being on live TV! It was an amazing experience,  at which they all excelled making their coach, Michelle Oakes, their parents and themselves extremely proud. Whilst continuing with their own gymnastics training they are now looking forward to their next Ceremonial duties at the World Artistic Gymnastics, Liverpool in March 2023.

A huge well done to Matthew Jackson and Katie Pollitt who both competed in Italy, representing the Great Britain Karate Team in the European Championships.

Katie finished 6th in Europe and Matthew achieved a 5th in Kata and an amazing 4th in fighting.
Everyone is very proud of their achievement and we look forward to hearing of further sporting successes.

Sophie Morrin has signed a contract for a Scholarship to play football for the University of Texas for next year.
Well done Sophie – your football career is going from strength to strength!

?Community ReAwards Nominations Now Open ?

We are inviting you to Nominate a volunteer, fundraiser or Charity, for an Award one, in one (or more) of the 11 Award categories in attached flier.

You may be thinking, how does this apply to our school?

We know from experience that most schools have many volunteers supporting them; in the background, be that at strategic level with a Governing Body, day to day in the classroom with reading, trips, concerts, open days etc or fundraising for resources through a PTA.

PTA’s often play a big part in providing additional help too by organising or helping at events.

Whether their voluntary work is regular or once every so often who do you know who deserves recognition for their voluntary work in your school community?

Nominating your volunteers for an award recognises their value.

Scan the QR code, on the attached flier, for link through to the nomination form or click on the hyperlink.

You can nominate more than one person and more than one category.

We look forward to receiving your nomination
