Message from our Chaplain Mairie
This article from our students who attended the recent Annual Schools Mass.
Last week some students from Year 9 and Year 7 attended the Annual Schools Mass with Mairie, our chaplain. The Mass was at Holy Angels Church in Hale Barns. When we first arrived, we had the chance to meet with other students from other high schools and get to know them better by playing some games organised by the Youth Mission Team. We thought that this was fun and a good way to get to know other people.
We then went to celebrate Mass with Bishop Mark. We had been chosen to read the Universal prayers and that helped a lot to make us more confident to read in front of so many people. It was a lovely Mass that gave us the chance to reflect on all that has happened this year. Mr Burns came with us, and it was his first Schools Mass as our headteacher. We really enjoyed the day and were glad we were able to attend.
Year 9 Reuse-Repair-Recycle
Year 9 completed many activities on Mission Day around the topic of Fast Fashion and the environmental and ethical implications around this. After studying the topic and learning about some rather shocking statistics, they worked in groups to repurpose an old t shirt. This culminated in a fashion show. Some of the items were “interesting” and some really did look like a product you would be happy to purchase!
Well done Year 9 – you were a credit to yourselves and the world of recycling!

Sporting Success – Annabel Hunter

A massive well done to Annabel Hunter who was successful in the Cheshire School Girl trials. Annabel has made it straight onto the first team.

To top that Annabel has also signed for Blackburn Rovers. What a fantastic achievement.

Sporting Success – Tia Randle

Tia Randle has been selected for Sale Sharks Centre of Excellence Squad after recent trials.

Tia only started playing rugby two years ago at St Nicholas and is now loving the sport. She has played for Winnington Park for one season, then moved to Chester RUFC and has played two seasons with Cheshire DPP

Fantastic news Tia!

Sports Leaders
Well done to our Year 9 Sports Leaders who helped out at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School’s Sports Day.
Across all of our feeder primary schools, we have had over 50 Sports Leaders involved this year.
It is great experience for our Leaders, a fantastic help for the Primary schools and a wonderful way for the primary school students to meet our amazing St Nicholas Ambassadors.
Also a big thank you to Mr Armstrong who is liaising with Primary Schools, organising everything and make the events run smoothly.

Writing Success – Tresor Nsengiyumva

Science lesson at St Vincent’s Primary School

On Tuesday, Mrs Cameron had an exciting science lesson with students at St Vincent’s. They did heart dissections as the students had been learning about the circulatory system.

Mrs Cameron was very impressed by the knowledge, interest and concentration.

Well done St Vincent’s
