Message from our Chaplain Mairie
We have had such a lot to celebrate at the end of the school year, it was wonderful to have our Whole School Mass to remind us of all that we have to be thankful for. We greatly appreciate all the staff and students who step up to make our Masses real milestones in the life of the school. Thanks also to Fr Peter for celebrating with us.
And this was only the morning! In the afternoon, Year 10 took part in the second Lucas Briscoe Memorial Rounders competition.  The sun shone on the year group, and the mid- break brought along a very welcome Ice Cream van for some cooling cones and lollies. Lucas’ mum, Miss Marshall, was with us to present the trophy, this year,  to 10Ward.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the school this year in many different ways. The St Nicholas family has a lot to be grateful for.
We end with a blessing on all our school families to have a blessed and restful (or exciting) summer holiday. We look forward to Summer School, Results Days and the new school year.
Letter from Mr Burns

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the end of an academic year comes to a close, and I end my first term at St. Nicholas, I would like to congratulate and thank your children for the positive contributions they have made in school and in the wider community. I have been impressed with the students’ determination and commitment to the wealth of extra-curricular activities that are available here, as well as their passion for raising funds for charity.

This term, it has been a pleasure to be part of, or witness, so many special events here: sports awards and a wealth of sporting activities and successes; prize night; mini-Dash; annual Mass with the Bishop; Year 11 and 13 Leavers’ Masses, the talented musicians and their performances at a number of events in or out of school. The list goes on! I’ve only been here a term and I cannot believe how much goes on here and how hard the staff and students work to make these amazing things happen.

Readathon

A massive thank you to all our KS3 students, family, friends and staff. We have raised a fantastic £510 for Readthon this year. That takes our total Readthon fundraising efforts to approximately £36,500! We really have made a difference to the lives of young people and their families during their stay in hospital.

A message from the PTFA
TO THE TEACHERS
Thank you, to the teachers
who work harder than we see
always finding ways
to turn learning into glee
thank you, to the teachers
who see faces in their heads
as they try to close their eyes
and put their busy brain to bed
thank you, to the teachers
who hold all those faces dear
little faces full of worry
small faces full of fear
thank you, to the teachers
who note what others don’t
the reason for the shyness
and the sad behind the ‘won’t’
thank you, to the teachers
who face the clock each day
that balance between time
and the urge to stop and play
thank you, to the teachers
we are grateful for this start
please know, you’ve a forever home
in so many children’s hearts.
