COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
GCSE Grade 4 or above in a Business related subject.
If not 
previously studied, GCSE Maths Grade 4 or above.


WHAT IS THE COURSE CONTENT AND HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

• What is economics and the economic problem?
• Price determination in a competitive market
• Production, costs and revenue
• Competitive and concentrated markets
• The market mechanism, market failure and government intervention in markets
• Economic performance
• Macroeconomic policy
• The distribution of income and wealth: poverty and inequality
• The national and international economy


There are three externally assessed exams each worth 33% of the overall grade. Across all of the exam
papers there are a mixture of multiple choice, short answer, data response and essay questions. There are
also extended writing questions based on an unseen case study.
