BUSINESS STUDIES

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: GCSE Grade 4 or above in a Business related subject.
If not studied previously, GCSE English Language or Literature at Grade 4 or above.


WHAT IS THE COURSE CONTENT AND HOW WILL I BE EXAMINED?


YEAR 12

• Understanding of the nature and purpose of business
• Understanding of different business forms
• Managers, leadership and decision making
• Understanding of the role and importance of stakeholders
• Marketing and analysing marketing performance
• Operations and analysing operational performance
• Finance and analysing financial performance
• Motivation

YEAR 13

• Analysing the strategic position of a business
• Choosing strategic direction
• Strategic methods: how to pursue strategies
• Managing strategic change

There are three external examination papers, all equally weighted at 33% each. The examination consist of
multiple choice, short answer and data response questions based on stimuli and longer answer essay questions.
