Anti-Bullying Week
Last week was national Anti-Bullying Week and, in school, our prayer focus has thought about the need to uphold the dignity of every person we meet and, following our 4R’s, act respectfully towards others and protect them whenever we can. We are also reminded by our Gospel Values for this term which are Faithfulness and Integrity.
The ABW focus for this year was ‘Speak Out’ and this means not only for victims of bullying, but witnesses as well. We cannot be bystanders when people are treated badly. Being prepared to make good, though difficult, choices is what Integrity is all about. We commit ourselves to the care and wellbeing of others. Everyone Matters.
A bully is fearful, and fear is always the enemy of goodness,
and so it is the enemy of love and peace.

St Nicholas Music Festival
Last week St Nicholas celebrated two amazing evenings of music. On Wednesday we had visits from St Luke’s, St Bede’s and St Wilfrid’s Primary Schools and Thursday St Joseph’s, St Vincent’s and St Mary’s Primary Schools were on stage singing their hearts out.
We were also incredibly proud of all the St Nicholas performers – the music you all produced was beautiful and we heard several primary school students and parents expressing how impressed they were.
Congratulations
Huge congratulations to Luca Gasparini and Edward Smalley: Both passed their grade 5 music theory exam with distinction.
St Nicholas U14 Cheshire Cup v All Hallows
St Nicholas played All Hallows in the Cheshire Cup on Thursday.
The girls played their hearts out against a very good team but sadly couldn’t come back from a 9-1 loss. Annabelle Hunter scored a very good goal and Rachel Aldridge executed some amazing saves as Goal keeper.
The referee was impressed by the determination shown by the girls.
Well done all involved, we are very proud of you.
Boccia Tournament
On Friday 16 teams from 14 different primary schools came to St Nicholas for a Boccia tournament.
20 Sports Leaders from Year 10 ran the day and were excellent officials.

World Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling Championships Birmingham 9-19th November 2023
George Avraam, Eleanor and Edward Ma are gymnasts who all train and coach at Hartford School of Gymnastics. They also volunteer for the British Gymnastics Ceremonial Team and the past 2 weekends this has seen them working hard as part of the BG Events Team at the Utilita Arena Birmingham.
Their duties include escorting world class athletes and VIP’s, as well as taking part in the medal ceremonies which are broadcast live on the BBC.
George, Eleanor and Edward are valued members of a dedicated team of gymnasts who are all inspired by the World Gymnastics Champions and the incredible life experiences which volunteering for British Gymnastics brings them. Their coach Michelle Oakes has reported that the BG Events team are extremely proud of the professionalism which the ceremonies team show both on stage in the limelight and also behind the scenes throughout the event. Well done to them all!
Last week the SEND department visited classes to see the rich learning experiences our SEND students receive at St Nicholas.
Here are some of the excellent things we saw during the week.
Cheshire School’s Book Quiz
Meet this year’s Book Quiz team! Congratulations to Emma Parkhill, Daisy Warren, Grace Baker, Holly Marshall and Penny Lee (not pictured) who beat the competition to make it into the St Nicholas team. Historically, we have reached the final every year we have entered and actually won the Cheshire School’s Book Quiz in 2013, 2017 and 2018. Two time champion and senior prefect George Dutton has volunteered to coach our new team in the hopes that they can repeat his success.
