Message from our Chaplain Mairie

Advent and Charity Challenge

This week we held our Advent Assemblies to talk about the forthcoming season of Advent and its meaning for Christians and our school. Advent means ‘coming’ and reminds us of the need to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas. In school, we will be noting the season with the colour purple, the Advent Wreaths, the Crib and our services in the chapel.
This time of reflection also inspires us to act, so our Advent charity challenge will be to collect groceries, baby goods and toiletries for the local community and Foodbank. The need within our local community grows larger every year and I am sure that the recent cold snap has caused many people to pause before putting the heating on. Your support for our challenge is very much appreciated and ensures that we can do our best help others.
Please see the list of suggested goods and check the use by dates for the end of January 2024.
Thank you

Just a reminder that we are Foodbank referrers so if your family needs support please contact me @ m.gelling@st-nicholas.cheshire.sch.uk

Free Peer Tutoring

Unlock Northwich presents… PEER TUTORING 📚

Are you in year 10 or 11 and feel like you could benefit from some extra support or a confidence boost in maths or english? Maybe help with homework, past papers or understanding a certain topic? Peer tutoring could be for you! 💯

Our peer tutoring is great because:
1. It’s completely FREE 👏
2. Your tutor will be a college student. That’s someone who’s not long since done their GCSEs, is approachable and can give real, up-to-date advice on exam stress & revision strategies too! 😇
3. The tutoring takes place in the Unlock youth cafe, away from any stresses at school or home. The tutoring will be in the quiet, back room of the cafe, but you can also fuel yourself with our sweet and savoury treats! 🍟

You will be paired with one of our amazing tutors, and meet them once a week, for 30-45 minutes, for 4-6 weeks. Based on your availability and the tutor’s availability, the tutoring will be sometime on a Tuesday or Thursday between 3pm and 6:30pm.

Contact us with your interest and we will match you up with a tutor, and agree on a weekly time. Direct message us on here or Instagram, or message us via WhatsApp on the Unlock Northwich number: 07476977035
