A prayer to share

On the Feast of Christ the King,
Lord,  As we hear your words, “Today you will be with me,”
help us to know that you are close to us now—
On this Youth Sunday,
we thank you for the gifts of young people in the Church:
their energy, creativity, honesty, and courage.
Help each of us to use our talents
to build your kingdom of justice, kindness, and peace.
Amen

A Message from our Chaplain, Mairie

Shoebox Appeal
We were delighted to welcome the van from Teams4U to collect our Shoeboxes. They will be making their way to Eastern Europe to help to lighten the lives of children.  Thank you for supporting this initiative, and to our student leaders and Sixth Form for organising and preparing the boxes for collection.
Advent Charity – Foodbank and SVP
We are just a week away from Advent and we will be attending our  Advent Assemblies to learn about the season of Advent and its meaning for Christians and our school. Advent means ‘coming’ and reminds us of the need to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas. In school, we will be noting the season with the colour purple, the Advent Wreaths, the Crib and our services in the chapel.
This time of reflection also inspires us to act, so our Advent charity challenge will be to collect groceries, baby goods and toiletries for the local community and Foodbank. The need within our local community continues every year and I am sure that the recent cold snap has caused many people to pause before putting the heating on. Your support for our challenge is very much appreciated and ensures that we can do our best help others.
Please send tins, dried goods, sweets and biscuits, toiletries, baby goods or pet food.
Please check the use by dates for the end of January 2026

Library and Literacy

St Nicholas’s new book quiz team for the Cheshire Schools’ Book Quiz 2026.
A huge congratulations to the four students who fought off keen competition to be chosen as our new representatives for the Cheshire Schools’ Book Quiz 2026. Everyone who attended the try out did really well and it was a really close call for the four top spots.

Our new quiz team, Erin Campbell, Marie Wood, Emma Fox and Isabel Hardman are currently reading their first quiz book, The Boy in the Suit by James Fox. In a couple of weeks they will be quizzed on the contents of the book along side some general book related knowledge questions in the first round of the Cheshire Schools’ Book Quiz and we wish them the best of luck.

Sporting Success

Former student – Team GB kayaking

Former student Michael Rose has secured a place in the Team GB Freestyle Kayaking Team once again. Having only started the sport a few years ago, the progress he has made is outstanding and will travel to Finland to compete next year in what will be his final year in the Junior category.

Tae Kwon Do

Following years of training, Grace Baker in Year 9 successfully passed a grading on Saturday and is now a first Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. The grading consisted of demonstrating a range of patterns and techniques, answering a range of questions and semi-contact ‘kickboxing’ style sparring in front of six senior black belts from across the country. Well done on all your hard work Grace. A brilliant achievement.

Swimming

Late weekend Brontë in Year 7 participated in a swimming gala at Brio Leisure in Northwich. She won a gold medal in butterfly and silver in free style. Brilliant achievement Brontë!

Karate

Mark Thompson in Year 8  competed in the Welsh Open karate championships on Sunday and won a gold medal!

Well done Mark – it is great to see all your hard work is paying off!
