St Nicholas plan to conquer another Three Peaks
St Nick’s Yorkshire Three Peaks
The staff at St Nick’s are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for four charities close to our hearts.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a demanding 24-mile trek covering Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with over 1,500 metres of climbing, usually completed within 12 hours. It’s a huge test of endurance, and every donation will help make the challenge worthwhile.
- Pseudomyxoma Survivors — supporting people affected by the rare cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei. We are fundraising in memory of our dear friend and colleague Laura McAleenan, who sadly passed away in January.
- Parkinson’s UK — funding research and providing vital support for people living with Parkinson’s and their families.
- St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice — delivering compassionate palliative and end-of-life care across mid and south Cheshire.
- Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust — providing essential hospice and bereavement care in Bethlehem and the surrounding area. We are fundraising in memory of our much-loved vice-chair of governors, John McDonald.
All money raised will be split equally between the charities.

Mental Health Awareness Week
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, a chance to remind ourselves how important mental wellbeing is for everyone in our school community. School life can sometimes feel busy or stressful, so it’s important to take time to look after ourselves and support one another.
This year’s theme is community, highlighting how friendships, kindness, and feeling connected can have a positive impact on mental health. Even small actions — checking in on a friend, including someone, or talking to a trusted adult — can make a big difference.
Remember: you are not alone, and support is always available.
Free School Meals Eligibility
Your child may be entitled to receive free school meals if you are entitled to receive one of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- TheGuaranteeelement of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,190.
- Universal Credit (Provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400)
Please go to, www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk, Schools & Education, then Free School Meals where you can apply on-line. The on-line eligibility checker will notify you straight away if you do or do not qualify.
It is really important that you complete the on-line form to ensure your child is recorded as eligible for Free School Meals and to help make sure that the school is funded.
If you cannot apply on-line, you can telephone Free School Meals on 0300 123 7039, but this is only if you do not have access to the internet.

Last weekend Connor Coleman in Year 8 won the challenge cup on his rugby tour in Somerset at the weekend with Chester RUFC. It was a great weekend and the team played really well.
Along with Jacob Blundell, Connor also won division 1 in the Warrington league with his Witton wanderers football team who were unbeaten all season.

Outgrown Uniform and PE kit
If your child is leaving school or has outgrown their uniform or PE kit, please send it in to school where we will reuse it for students who need it or pass it on to the Green Uniform and Babybank. This can also be sent in after the exams have finished.
