Ukraine

We continue to pray for reconciliation and peace to come to Ukraine.
We are very pleased that we are beginning our Saints Lent fundraising to support CARITAS.
CARITAS  already have schemes in place, in our local area,  to support refugees and work with the government sponsorship scheme. CARITAS International is part of the Disasters Emergency Committee which has recently launched the Ukraine Humanitarian Scheme. They are already ‘on the ground’ with CARITAS Ukraine and CARITAS Poland giving humanitarian support. We look forward to seeing the amazing projects being planned by our Saint forms over the next few weeks.  Fundraising will happen through to the end of April and the final amount will be shared between the local and International branches. We thank you for your support as always.
Support for students
In school, we hope to support our students as much as we can in these challenging times. This support includes the following opportunities:
Learning Mentor hub will now be open from 8.30am, in addition to break time and lunch.
Our Chaplain, Mairie, is usually in the chapel before school and at break and lunch.
The chapel is available for times of quiet prayer and reflection, or to light a candle for a special intention.
There is a ‘post box’ outside the chapel for prayer requests or requests for a chat.
Our Drop-in email, which proved very helpful during lockdown, is still active. Parents or students can access:  drop-in@st-nicholas.cheshire.sch.uk  (monitored 9.00am to 3.00pm)
If you have concerns about your child, or if you would like us to know anything about your family situation in respect of the crisis, please let us know. You can email the appropriate year leader or via the drop-in email.
Support for Ukraine
If you are looking for charities who are taking donations of medical, hygiene or food supplies,  ‘Changing Lives Together’ is coordinating collections at Barons Quay together with ‘Collection for Ukrainian Refugees’. They are also looking for volunteers from age 14 (with accompanying adult). The needs are always changing, so please check their Facebook or Web pages or follow contact details below.  Your local church may also be a drop-off point for these or other charities.

Literacy update

Spring concert

At this time of the year we usually join with our partner primary schools for our Music Festivals. Due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, our primary schools can’t join us at this point. However, we have re-scheduled for later this term once GCSE and A Level examinations have taken place.

We are therefore holding a Spring Concert on Wednesday 16th March in which all our ensembles will perform as well as some performances from GCSE and A Level students.

The concert will start at 6.30pm and I will expect students who are performing to be back in school 6pm. If students cannot get home and back within that time frame they can stay in school but must register in 1M at 3.15pm.

Students, other than sixth form, will not allowed off-site to purchase any food or drinks and therefore must bring a packed tea. If this is not possible, please contact me direct.

If you would like to attend this event, please complete the MS Form below indicating how many seats you require.
