Message from Mairie
Pope Francis’ Rosary request
During the month of May, we would usually spend some time in the chapel learning about and praying the rosary. This year we will be praying in our Sacred Space time in form. The rosary has been a prayer connected with Our Lady and healing for over eight hundred years. It is a prayer that connects people and could well be regarded as the first ‘fidget’ aid for anxious hearts and minds. Pope Francis has asked that we focus our prayer of the rosary this year for the end of the pandemic and for all those who are suffering from its effects. We would particularly remember the people of India at this time.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and forever will be, world without end. Amen

Gabriel completes his training to become a Track and Field Official

Gabriel Mikoleizik 11T tells of his achievement.

“Following an injury in 2019 that has forced me to stop competing for a while, I decided to start training to be a Track and Field Official. It became clear that there was soon to be a high demand for Starters, and this was the area of the race that was the most interesting to me. It’s definitely the best role out of all the Officials as this is the one where you’re interacting with the athletes and you meet different athletes that are on an international level of competition.

I did various courses and qualifications and gradually qualified to be a Grade 1 licensed Starter for the UKA, this means I can take any role at the start of the track and hold the power of the Chief Starter and Start Referee.

I trained initially as a marksman and soon realised the starter’s role is much more interesting. The only downside to this role is when you have to take the decision to disqualify an athlete that has been working years to take a title and they’ve lost their chance to something like a false start before the race has even begun.”

Head of PE, Mrs Simms has expressed how proud she is of Gabriel and how it reflects on his maturity and drive that he has taken it upon himself to gain this qualification.

Well done Gabriel!

Year 12 Work Experience July 2021

As part of the Careers Programme we develop strong links with local employers. Our year 12 students are due to complete a week of work experience commencing 5th July 2021. Understandably students are finding it difficult to find placements this year and I am asking all parents and carers if they know of a business or employer, it can be yourself, a family member or friend, who may be able to offer a placement to one of our students. Feedback last year from employers was really positive and our students are able to offer a lot of skills and assistance to employers, one student was offered a graduate job last year which shows the caliber we have to offer.
