Message from our Chaplain Mairie
We return to school and the beginning of Lent. The word ‘Lent’ means ‘to lengthen’ and reflects the longer days as Spring begins to give us brighter days and a sense of something to look forward to. In Lent we practise three aspects of faith. Pray, Fast and Give.
We will be having times of reflection in the chapel for all students, in addition to our Sacred Space in formtime. There is a tradition of ‘giving things up for Lent’ that is as much cultural as spiritual in this country.  We recognise that doing without can help our self-discipline and appreciation of what we have. Through our Lent charity we will ‘give’. Giving is meant to be a joyful experience and is said to be better for our well-being than receiving. Our students are already planning their charity events and we look forward to seeing the whole school engaged with activities to support CARITAS and CARITAS International.
Amazing musicians – Lion King

During half term, some of our very talented musicians got the chance to perform with the professionals from the show Lion King. They took part in a workshop at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.

Mrs McKenna said she was incredibly proud of all of these young musicians and singers. They played alongside the orchestra and showed their talents and commitment, listened to all instructions and performed brilliantly.

Thank you to the staff who were able to help out during half term too.

Thank you to all the students for being amazing – it was brilliant to see you all flourish on the slopes. And thank you to all the staff who helped facilitate this trip.
Art and French trip to Paris

Art and French students had a fabulous trip to Paris, which was packed full of visits, walking, museums, churches, cafes and learning. Amongst many other things they had a guided tour at the Pompidou, visited Atelier des Lumières & Galleries Lafayette, been on a boat trip and saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night. There was a Mass at Sacré-Coeur, creativity unfolding by our brilliant artists and a bit of shopping was squeezed in too.

A truly brilliant trip.

Merci to Mrs Petts and Mrs McEvoy who made it happen.

Library and Literacy
World Book Day
Students from Year 7 and 8 enjoyed a live event to celebrate World Book Day in the new library today. This year, the live online learning event was hosted by the Ann Frank trust and featured one of our Book Club authors, Tom Palmer. Students had the opportunity of asking questions and taking part in polls.  We learned about Ann Frank, Audrey Hepburn and the power of resistance. Tom Palmer discussed how reading about the atrocities of war and being able to put yourself in the shoes of the characters in war stories can inspire a generation to resist against current and future wars.
