A Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of love and concern for those who are unwell.
We ask for Your healing touch upon them, bringing comfort to their bodies, peace to their minds, and strength to their spirits.
Lord, you are the Great Healer, and nothing is beyond Your power.
Please restore health to those who are suffering, ease their pain, and fill them with hope. Surround them with Your presence and let them feel Your love and peace in this time of need.
Give wisdom to the doctors and caregivers, patience to their loved ones, and faith to all who are praying for them.
May Your will be done, and may they find rest in Your grace.

Schools Media Competition
The Columbans are looking for students in Britain and Ireland (aged 13-18 inclusive) to submit an original piece of writing or an original image on the theme:
Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope
Submit a piece of writing or a picture or photo by 7th February and you could win a £300 prize.
Sporting Success – Year 7 Football
On Friday, some of our Year 7 football team represented the school at the Vale Royal Schools’ Indoor 5 a-side competition at Rudheath Senior Academy. They played some fantastic football and finished the evening in second place, having only conceded one goal for the entire event. They were brilliant ambassadors for the school and showed integrity, humility, and compassion throughout.
Employee Readiness Programme
A fantastic launch of our Employee Readiness Programme for Year 13. Students spoke to apprentices from Morrisons, RMG UK and Astra Zeneca then had a workshop on CVs, interview skills and LinkedIn. Some of the apprentices were former St Nicholas students who gained their place through attending these sessions when the were here.
There was such a positive buzz in the rooms and it was great to experience our students paying close attention to the advice and experience being shared.
Sixth Form Catenians Public Speaking Competition
Huge congratulations to 6th form students Jack Carroll and James Lear who both competed in the Catenians Public Speaking Competition, representing the school at the North West Regional Heat on Sunday 2nd February. Candidates were asked to speak to a large audience for 4 minutes on a topic they selected, from a list of possible options. Jack spoke on the topic ‘you are only young once, but can stay immature indefinitely’ whilst James spoke on the topic ‘real learning does not take place in the classroom’. Both boys’ speeches were very well-written and delivered with confidence and engagement, impressing both the judges and the wider audience. They each received a certificate for their efforts and will be adding the event to their CVs, demonstrating not only are they willing to push themselves beyond their comfort zones, but that they have developed the skills to speak in front of larger groups – skills that are much sought-after by employers and universities alike.
Sporting Success – Cross Country
Sporting Success – Seren and Freya playing for Crewe
Last Friday Seren and Freya both played for Crewe Alex against Coventry Academy. Freya played striker and scored a solid 5 Goals, she battled really well against some strong defense players . The score in the end was a 13-2 win .
Seren played in defense, not much got past her at all she is so strong . Both girls played amazingly. Seren helped out for the under 14s as well and their score was a win of 4-0.
Freya and Seren have played for Crewe Alex now for 3 seasons . Each year they have to re trial. Last year they both also played up a year . They’ve become unbeaten against some really strong teams .
They have both been selected to play against Manchester United in the February half term.
Smash-Hit Musical ‘Shrek’ – starting this week.
Prepare to be transported to the magical, hilarious world of everyone’s favourite ogre! Based on the much-loved DreamWorks film, Shrek the Musical is a laugh-out-loud adventure packed with unforgettable characters, show-stopping songs, and a heartwarming story that’s perfect for all ages.
With a fantastic cast of talented pupils from Years 7 to 11, a live orchestra, stunning sets, fabulous costumes, and plenty of surprises, this is a show that promises to be truly unforgettable!
Our school hall will be completely transformed into a magical theatre space for the occasion. Join us in the ‘Swamp’ from Wednesday 5th February to Friday 7th February, with curtain up at 7.00pm each evening.
