A prayer to share

Prayer for Hope

In the face of injustice and of need,
we light a candle of hope.
God’s hope is coming,
on earth as it is on heaven.
Do not be afraid.
Hope is coming.

Amen

Message from our Chaplain Mairie

Advent and Charity Challenge
This week we held our Advent Assemblies to talk about the forthcoming season of Advent and its meaning for Christians and our school. Advent means ‘coming’ and reminds us of the need to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas. In school, we will be noting the season with the colour purple, the Advent Wreaths, the Crib and our services in the chapel.
This time of reflection also inspires us to act, so our Advent charity challenge will be to collect groceries, baby goods and toiletries for the local community and Foodbank. The need within our local community grows larger every year and I am sure that the recent cold snap has caused many people to pause before putting the heating on. Your support for our challenge is very much appreciated and ensures that we can do our best help others.
Please see the list of suggested goods and check the use by dates for the end of January 2025
Thank you
Just a reminder that we are Foodbank referrers so if your family needs support please contact me @ m.gelling@st-nicholas.cheshire.sch.uk

Cheshire School’s Book Quiz

Our reading savants have been chosen and are ready to take on teams across Cheshire to battle it out to be the Cheshire School’s Book Quiz Champions.

Our amazing team completed the first round today which comprised of questions about Phil Earle’s Northern Soul (which they all thoroughly enjoyed reading), and general questions which can be based on any children’s/teen book. Amazingly, they scored a perfect 20 out of 20 which puts us in a fantastic position for the next four rounds.
